Start of the Disappearing Trades tour

Discover a different Singapore with us on the nostalgic tour, through the local craftsmen that fight to preserve our disappearing trades. This tour is ideal for those who love learning about a destination and its heritage by interacting with interesting locals.

Start with a trip to a traditional bakery where the baker will share the story of his trade and how the tradition is ebbing away with time. Try the old-fashioned bread and decide for yourself how it is different from modern bread.

Witness paper effigy masters at work while uncovering the traditions surrounding this intricate craft. Learn how the Chinese community to pay respects to their ancestors in the afterlife.

Finally, pay a visit to a popular coffee roasting factory, where you can learn about the story of our local coffee, how it is roasted, as well as sample of beloved kopi 'O' or black coffee.

Travel notes

- If you appreciate culture, history and meaningful interaction, this tour is for you.
- Want to speak to the locals? We definitely recommend it. After all, they are the essence of the tour.
- While our craftsmen are happy to let you pose for photos and try your hands in their craft, you don't be able to make the bread as it is a proper factory.
- It won the 2017 Singapore Tourism Awards for Best Tour Experience so that's saying something.
